what is here?
sounds that were made to resemble music, mostly. some of it was intended to be scary music, some of it epic music and most of it was meant to be noisy in one way or another. not sure if all those intentions came out loud and clear. all of it was made more or less exclusively on computers with cheap soundcards, although there is the occasional real synthesizer. most of it was done when not playing doom and while other people were either in bed, in university or having a social life. things happen.

why is it here?
because letting it rot on my hard drive doesn't make any sense either. it took enough time to put it all together; this way, at least a googlebot can have the occasional sniff.

now what?
you could have a listen by clicking the song titles below. you could even mail me; there is lots more of this stuff (having been in university for quite a while). or you could go away again and do something useful. which, incidentally, is what i would suggest you do if you are contemplating complaining about samples or copyrights.

track 12
a.s.a. 2
ambient, illbient or some such style. done in 1995. both part of a large batch of songs intended as soundtrack or mood music for a games centre that a friend was planning to open.
triplets are great (see acid), as are the korg ms20's filters. intended to annoy. the i.c.f. has several brothers, some of which go one forever. also from 1995.
attempts at a neo-classicism, after having grown tired of making horrorscapes with twinkly bells for months on end. yes, i own records by in the nursery. 1995.
e.b.m. and metal guitars from 1994. utterly dated now (and crap sound quality besides), but back then it was not too common. hey, i almost got a record deal with this stuff!
quiet atmospheric tracks, with sudden bleepiness and tearful melody dropping in. made in 1996 and 1997 from the leftovers of the music for the games centre (which never happened).
making trancey techno, or at least the way it sounded in 1995. features a korg ms20 and some cheap italian keyboard, beside the usual worn soundblaster.
slightly nervous organ stabs give way to melancholy and a stately pace. the sample somewhere near the end says "we're not who we are", hence the title. made in 1996.
poor me. stripped of noisy samples and electro beats, only swirling, intertwined synth pulses remain in this version. and the obligatory choir at the end. oh well. from 1997.
some quiet beats and piano from 2008. done in audiomulch using something called the 'x-chanter', which is responsible for the nasal melody. i've run out of song titles.
shimmering, droney track. originally done in 2007, also in audiomulch. this version done in 2009, with added drones, noises and love.
